Drilled Jet Freeform Nugget Focal Bead Black Lignite Fossil Wood Qty 1
A rare find, this beautiful smooth Russian jet (Lignite) is the stone that inspired the phrase, "jet black" and are a smooth semi-gloss patina. This large freeform jet nugget is top-drilled with a hole approximately 1mm in diameter. Remarkably lightweight, this is "soft" jet (as defined below).
You will receive the exact shown stone shown. If you want undrilled, or want more, just ask! I can send you a photo of several specimens.
According to Wikipedia: "Jet is a product of high pressure decomposition of wood from millions of years ago, commonly the wood of trees of the family Araucariaceae. Jet is found in two forms, hard and soft. Hard jet is the result of the carbon compression and salt water; soft jet is the result of the carbon compression and fresh water.
"In the Roman period it saw use as a magical material, frequently used in amulets and pendants because of its supposed protective qualities and ability to deflect the gaze of the evil eye. Pliny the Elder suggests that "the kindling of jet drives off snakes and relieves suffocation of the uterus. Its fumes detect attempts to stimulate a disabling illness or a state of virginity." I'll leave it to you to figure out what he meant by the latter! LOL
Metaphysically, jet is grounding and balancing. It carries a negative electrical charge so it is good for drawing power and knowledge to the bearer. It may help stabilize finances, and is said to soothe migraines. A highly protective stone, feminine, good for mourning & healing of grief. Helps protect against illness. Combined with Amber it is extremely powerful and protective.
